The Itinerary

So the genesis of this whole trip was that Adrian and I were both invited to our friend Ahmed’s wedding… in Egypt! To be honest, at first I wrote it off but after talking to Adrian we decided we would go and use it as an excuse to kick off a trip to Egypt.

Once we decided we wanted to go we had to choose a tour to go on. If it had been another place, like Europe or something, I wouldn’t have necessarily used a tour but for Egypt with (what I’m assuming is) a different culture than our own and other things to make mistakes with I think it was the safest bet.

Our friend Lindsay is a tour agent and helped us choose a tour that would be more geared to our age group and would cover most or all the things we wanted to see. We finally decided on Top Deck’s Nile Discovery Tour, here’s the link for those interested in checking it out.

Our tour starts on November 7th and ends on the 14th but Ahmed’s wedding is on the 4th so we will be arriving on the 2nd.

Here’s what our itinerary looks like so far (including the tour because I know you were too lazy to click the link)

November 1st:
Get my dad to drive us to Montreal to catch our 6 PM flight to Zurich.

November 2nd:
Arrive in Zurich at 6:30 AM (local time), catch our 9:45 AM flight to Cairo and land at 2:45 (local time, different than Zurich?). The rest of our day will be spent hanging our around the hotel and its neighborhood.

November 3rd:
Free day in Cairo! Nothing planned, hopefully get out and check out the sights (belly dancing!) and sounds and smells (sheesha!) of Cairo.

November 4th:
Ahmed’s wedding!

November 5th:
Day trip to Alexandria where we will visit the library, catacombs and a castle!

November 6th:
Same as the 3rd.

November 7th:
Our tour starts!… at 7PM, probably do the same as the 3rd and 6th, get out and check the city out.

November 8th:
Check out the Pyramids and Egyptian Museum. At night take a train to Aswan.

November 9th:
Check out islands on the Nile, the Aga Khan Mausoleum and Tombs of the Nobles and a Nubian village.

November 10th:
Visit Abu Simbel and the Temple of Hathor. Head towards Edfu and stop at Kom Ombo, another temple.

November 11th:
Visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu and then cruise towards Luxor.

November 12th:
Check out Luxor! The Valley of the Kings, the Tomb of Tutankhamun, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, Temple of Karnak and the Temple of Luxor! Holy crap that’s a lot!

November 13th:
Back to Cairo, check out Saqqara where there is an ancient step pyramid and end by checking out the market in Cairo!

November 14th:
4 PM flight to Zurich, land at 7:15 PM. Try to find a hostel to crash at for the night… or kick is “Airport Hotel” style!

November 15th:
Leave Zurich at 12:15 PM and land in Montreal at 3:15 PM (local time) where my loving father will pick us up and driving us home while we sleep in the car!

If you made it down to here I’m impressed! Writing that out was more of a pain (and probably less interesting) than I thought it would be, hopefully it gives you an idea of what we’ll be up to while you sit at your desk and toil with your daily life SUCKA!
